Senators Pond 3 Champions!

With grit and the determination of a thousand men, the Ottawa Senators have fought back being down 3 games to none in the Cup Finals to beat the Sharks in 7 games.

Hail to the king Jody and his Senators for doing what the real life counterpart can't seem to accomplish, going all the way!!!   Congratulations to Mat and the Sharks for an amazing run to get here, after only half a season behind the bench.

Read additional game comments from both finalists here.

POND PLAYOFF TREE.

TROPHY ROOM.

Down to 4, let's square dance!

After short 2nd round stints, Sharks and Predators are facing off nice and fresh for the Western Conference finals.  Game 3 is being played as I write this.  This series is tied 1 game apiece and will likely go the distance.  I wish I could tune into a few games in this one... replays guys, please!

The East paints a different picture.  The Senators saw their 3 game lead vanish against Montreal in the 2nd round, only to squeak by the skin o' their teeth in 7 games.  The Penguins  had to battle hard in the 2nd round against the favourite Lightning, coming from behind 2 nil and 3 games to 2, and eventually taking it in 7.  The Sens lead this series 2 games to 1.   I predict a 7 game series in this one as well.

Good luck to all 4 remaining teams!  Keep us posted with game stories please!

Let the post-season begin!

Who would have guessed in order to make the playoff cut, your team would have to play 6 games over .500 in the Pond season 3?

More proof things aren't getting any easier in here, 2 of the most experienced and talented gamers I know (EDM and BUF coach) will not be part of the playoff rounds, by the skin of their teeth mind you.  It was literally down to the wire once again as in the East Toronto surpassed the Sabres in their last season game.  In the West, the Oilers could not catch the Flames, Ducks and Kings and were unable to squeak in the post-season.

Guessing games are over now and as they say, a new season begins!  Follow all the playoff scores by linking to the ever so famous POND PLAYOFF TREE

Season in its final stretch

Even with most teams having less than 10 games remaining on their schedule, the playoff picture remains extremely fuzzy.  Teams participating in the playoffs and all 8 match ups will likely be decided in the season's final weekend.  There are tense battles brewing in both conferences.  Tampa Bay have a new team up their wazoo, only 1 point seperate them from the Ottawa Senators whom are on an utterly disgusting rampage, annihilating everything in their path.  The Devils under coach Finkel are making a legitimate move for the post season, only 2 points back of Weston's Leafs, chasing Washington and Siewert's Sabres for the 8th spot in the east.

Things are as tight in the west.  While the Predators and Avalanche continue to battle for 1st overall, the 4th thru the 9th seeds are all within 3 points of each other.  The Mighty Ducks are only 4 points behind 9th spot Edmonton, and have 2 games in hand.  The Coyotes follow in 11th spot, they're very well in this race but they must get to the .500 level to be seriously considered.  The Pacific division is particularly nuts as the Kings, Sharks and Stars are tied in the division lead with 53 points, Los Angeles having more wins currently sit pretty in the conference's 3rd spot.

This is shaping up be a nail biting end of the season.  Hope you'll be around to be part of it!

Lookie here?  We got a correspondent doing an injury report.  How cool is that?!

The prime directive

We're a family here.  If you can't have the decency to show respect for your opponent, play realistically and by the rules, I don't care who you are or how much experience you have in online gaming, you will be replaced.

If you're victim of cheap gameplay, you need to keep the commissioner informed so he can take necessary action.  This is a rule in itself.  Taking matters into your own hands is not a solution.

Rules update

I've played and heard about games that have had some serious rule violations.  Make sure you read or re-read the rules for this league as I'll have to start chopping some legs off the people who break them.

Speaking of breaking off legs, some coaches are on the bubble and risk losing their position by as soon as tomorrow evening.  Get into the habit of being on the ball and play your games, or you'll be replaced.
